Cause hope was for us to hold.”

I give thanks for this new friendship found in A. I’m very gracious and appreciative of his fellowship and generosity – both in sharing his life and buying me a dinner.
His life is an inspiration. And his sharing has caused me to wonder about two things:
1. How has the Lord’s hand been evident in my life?
2. Am I able to find meaning in all that I do?
Perhaps that is what Colossians 3:23 really means. The essence of it is to find the meaningfulness in it for God in anything – and to excel at it.
I think therein the embrace of this truth, I may find again my true joy and happiness.
Our lives are not our own. We are bound to others, past and present, and by each crime and every kindness we birth our future.
– Sonmi 451, Cloud Atlas
The Cloud Atlas is a wonderful film. It is a tapestry of six stories unfolding in different times, each finding its root and connection in a story of a preceding time. Its stories unravel and propel forward to accentuate the definitive actions that each central character make – and how, as a consequence, they influence a time after themselves – a birthing of history.
Quite a brilliant show, if I may say so. And, I think it not the least an absurd idea. Furthermore, I find beauty in the fact that none of them, in those moments therein, actually gave much thought of how they might influence the time after themselves; no, in those moments they lived – they lived in such a manner not regardless of the future, but in full embrace of the present. And I believe that it is only when we live courageously in full of embrace of our present, that we might then be able to powerfully shape our future (positively and profitably, of course).
Is there a cause you’re fighting for? An unfulfilled conviction that settles your heart?
I believe that the Kingdom of God is a cause most worthy. I have come to embrace the lives of those close to my heart – and their future. And I am fully convinced that my inaction (and that of every individual in this community) would be utterly destructive to the continued existence of this house. Yet more than the possibility of the laying waste of the many years of blood, sweat and tears, I am fully convinced that a solidarity of mind, heart and body has a far greater potential of heights unimaginable. And I believe that the smallest and simplest of catalysts is all we need – a simple love of the other. (For secondary to my love for Christ and his will, it is my heart for His people that keeps me going) From whence a community shall then be formed. And with dreams big enough and most daring and audacious – God can and shall wield us mightily.
I have been praying. And I shall continue doing so.
God-willing, we can birth our future.
Of late the skies have been brooding – unfeeling at best and very moody; rare are the days it’d beam with sure unbridled joy and warmth.
Frankly, I miss the sun. And these nights are much more frigid than usual. Perhaps it is only a passing season and therein at the end of it, a beautiful summer. I suppose God only knows.
It is on the fair-weathered days that I’m here – on the promenade, under the bridge that finds its way across the Singapore river to the esplanade. It is here that I find respite; it is a get-away, if you’d like, from everyone and everything. It is here that I find God (or hope to find).
No, it is not a quiet place – far from serene. In fact it bustles, as the city does. With the highway overhead and the throngs of tourist making their way up and down… life bustles, yet in a very distant and peripheral sense. Because here, nothing demands my time nor my attention. In this enclave I am hidden.

Because what is important is that we find like-minded people aligned to a similar purpose. And the point is this – that though we might end up at different destinations (for each walk and calling is a personal one), at completion we are weaved, as individual threads into a greater tapestry of infinite beauty.
